Formerly called Public School 612 (named for its address on Flower Street), the Downtown gastropub space now known as Public School 213 is back in action. Not only has the title changed since the renovation was first announced back in March — the name now fits in line with the area code monikers being used at their multiple other locations — but the eatery has also expanded in just about every way possible. Months ago the team managed to take over the adjacent Daily Grill space, which meant not only more seating but room for a more fleshed-out menu, since the old PS 612 was really just a beer and bar snacks sort of place. There are new design elements as well, though the funky classroom feel is still well in place; now, industrial bulbs, brick walls, and a larger bar help to give the place a defined sense of Downtown character.
